The Royal Moroccan Golf Federation organises the 2nd National Seminar of its Water and Environment Commission
Under the effective Presidency of His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation (RMGF) organised, through its Ad Hoc Water and Environment Commission, the 2nd edition of its National Seminar dedicated to the ecological maintenance of golf courses and responsible water management, on Friday 8 May 2026 at the National Institute of the Horse in Rabat.
This initiative is part of a collective dynamic mobilising the entire national golf ecosystem, in which the Federation plays a supporting and accompanying role for the clubs responsible for the operational implementation of sustainable practices.
This event follows on from the first national seminar held in 2025, which laid the foundations for a collective dynamic around the ecological transition of Moroccan golf courses. For this second edition, the RMGF continues its work by placing concrete solutions, feedback from experience, and operational tools at the centre of the agenda, enabling clubs to evolve their practices.
Driven by the vision of His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, the RMGF’s environmental commitment aims to reconcile the development of golf, the preservation of natural resources, and adaptation to the Kingdom’s climatic realities, by supporting clubs in the evolution of their practices. Water management, reduction of inputs, soil protection, grass selection, filtration, consumption monitoring, and upskilling of maintenance teams are now among the priorities of this approach.
The programme of the 2nd National Seminar was structured around several key sessions dedicated to responsible water management, reduction of inputs, and ecological course maintenance. Discussions brought together Moroccan and international experts on operational topics: rational water use, grass tolerance, measurement tools, quality of treated wastewater, filtration solutions, and practices adapted to local climatic conditions.
The discussions during this seminar illustrated the concrete commitment of Moroccan clubs, key players in implementing sustainable practices on the ground. Practical workshops also allowed for an in-depth exploration of three key areas: the “zero phyto” objective, the monitoring of simple indicators, and the adaptation of maintenance practices to the local climate.
The day concluded with a collective debrief, the presentation of a roadmap, and the announcement of the finalised Charter for the environmental management of golf spaces.
On the sidelines of the Seminar, the RMGF signed a partnership agreement with AGREF (the Association of French Golf Course Maintenance Staff), the reference organisation representing French greenkeepers.
Concluded for a period of three years (2026-2028), this agreement aims to strengthen cooperation between the two institutions in the areas of training, professionalisation, and skills transfer for the benefit of Moroccan greenkeepers. It will notably enable profiles identified by the RMGF to benefit from free membership of AGREF, access to existing technical resources, as well as privileged access, from January 2027, to the future digital platform of the Sports Turf Academy.
Through this landmark agreement and the holding of this 2nd National Water & Environment Seminar, the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation reaffirms its commitment to supporting the upskilling of national technical teams and to helping the Kingdom’s clubs in their environmental transition.
