The 50th Hassan II Golf Trophy and the 29th Lalla Meryem Cup close an anniversary week at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam
Held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and under the Effective Presidency of His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, the 50th edition of the Hassan II Golf Trophy and the 29th edition of the Lalla Meryem Cup came to a close at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam in Rabat.
The awards ceremony was presided over by Their Royal Highnesses Prince Moulay Rachid and Princess Lalla Meryem, bringing to a conclusion an anniversary week that gathered PGA TOUR Champions legends, Ladies European Tour players, Moroccan talents, young generations and a large public audience around an edition defined by history, emotion and celebration.
Founded in 1971 by Late His Majesty King Hassan II, the Hassan II Golf Trophy celebrated its Golden Jubilee this year. Fifty editions later, the tournament continues to embody a founding vision: to make golf a vehicle for Morocco’s international outreach, hospitality and discovery. This legacy has been carried forward across generations, while preserving the elements that define the tournament’s identity: a deeply Moroccan story, a special connection with champions and a distinctive experience offered to players and spectators alike.
Scott Hend adds his name to the Hassan II Golf Trophy roll of honour
On the Red Course at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam, Australia’s Scott Hend claimed victory in the 50th Hassan II Golf Trophy with a total score of 15 under par. A final birdie on the 18th hole allowed him to seal the title and write his name into the history of the competition.
He becomes the first Australian player to win the event, joining a roll of honour that has, for more than five decades, brought together some of the greatest figures in international golf. His victory adds a new chapter to the story of the Hassan II Golf Trophy, whose strength lies in a singular identity: a close bond with champions and a constant ambition to present Morocco to the world through golf.
Anna Huang becomes the first Canadian to win the Lalla Meryem Cup
On the Blue Course, Canada’s Anna Huang won the 29th Lalla Meryem Cup with a total score of 14 under par. She becomes the first Canadian player to add her name to the Lalla Meryem Cup roll of honour.
Created in 1993 by Late His Majesty King Hassan II and included on the Ladies European Tour calendar since 2010, the Lalla Meryem Cup continues to hold a distinctive place in international women’s golf. Organised during the same week and on the same venue as the Hassan II Golf Trophy, it reflects a Moroccan tradition rooted in openness, visibility and recognition of women’s sport.
Two Moroccan players reach the third round
The Lalla Meryem Cup also offered an important platform for Moroccan players, with seven national representatives competing this year. Two of them made the cut and went on to play the third round.
Maha Haddioui finished in 39th place, with a total score of even par. Amateur player Rim Imni finished in 64th place, with a total of 225 strokes, or 6 over par, after rounds of 76, 71 and 78.
These performances reflect the continued progress of Moroccan women’s golf and the work carried out by the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation to support players, strengthen their exposure at international level and build stronger pathways between training, competition and high performance.
An edition open to the public and focused on the future
Beyond the competition itself, this anniversary edition reaffirmed the vocation of the Hassan II Golf Trophy and the Lalla Meryem Cup as events open to the widest possible audience. For one week, Royal Golf Dar Es Salam became a place of life, discovery and shared experience, with free access and a welcoming environment designed to allow as many people as possible to take part in this historic edition through the Tournament Village, food areas, entertainment and golf initiation activities.
Young people also played an important role through the Pro-Am Hassan II Kids Cup by First Tee, held on the Green Course. By bringing together children from the First Tee Morocco program with professional women and men players, this format highlighted the educational dimension of golf and its role in passing on values such as respect, confidence, discipline and perseverance.
This 50th edition of the Hassan II Golf Trophy and the 29th Lalla Meryem Cup confirmed the uniqueness of the Moroccan model: a golf culture rooted in the history of Morocco, open to the world, and deeply attached to hospitality, transmission and the building of the future.
The Royal Moroccan Golf Federation and the Hassan II Golf Trophy Association extend their congratulations to the winners, the women and men players, the partners, the volunteers, the organizing teams and the public, all of whom contributed to the success of this anniversary week.
