Historic victory for Moroccan golfer Adam Bresnu at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational in the United States

A first for Moroccan golf as Adam earns a place in an event on the prestigious PGA TOUR

A member of the Road to the Tour programme established by the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation (RMGF), chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, Adam Bresnu claimed victory at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational, held in Texas on 28 and 29 September. Widely regarded as one of the leading events in U.S. collegiate golf, the tournament saw the Moroccan player secure a historic win that earns him a place in an event on the PGA TOUR.

Adam Bresnu has been part of the Road to the Tour programme, launched by the RMGF in 2021 to enable Federation players to pursue a combined academic and sporting pathway at universities in the United States. At the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational, he secured the title with a total score of 203, seven under par, after posting rounds of 69, 67 and 67.

The victory gives the Moroccan golfer his first individual title in NCAA Division I and marks another important milestone for Moroccan golf.

By winning the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational, Adam Bresnu earned an exemption into the 2027 Charles Schwab Challenge, an official PGA TOUR event that will take place next May at Colonial Country Club.

He will therefore have the opportunity to compete against the elite of professional golf on the PGA TOUR, regarded as the world’s most prestigious professional golf circuit. Reaching this level represents the ultimate sporting objective of both the Federation’s Road to the Tour programme and Adam Bresnu himself.

Adam Bresnu secured the title against a strong field featuring several of the leading players in U.S. collegiate golf, some of whom are also ranked among the world’s top amateur golfers.

The young Moroccan currently stands 9th in the PGA TOUR University Ranking, before his victory at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational is taken into account. In Fort Worth, he finished ahead of several players who were ranked above him, and his position is therefore expected to improve when the ranking is next updated.

The PGA TOUR University Ranking is one of the main pathways between U.S. collegiate golf and the professional tours affiliated with the PGA TOUR. At the end of their college careers, the highest-ranked players earn status on these professional circuits.

Adam is also currently ranked 24th in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), before this latest victory is reflected in the standings.

This latest success confirms the steady progress he has made in recent years. After recording nine victories in two seasons at Odessa College and receiving the Jack Nicklaus Award in 2025, Adam Bresnu continued his development at Texas Tech University.

On the international stage, the Moroccan golfer has also produced a number of notable performances. He finished 6th at the 2024 PIF Saudi International, made the cut at the 2025 Hero Dubai Desert Classic, and secured 3rd place individually at the 2025 World Amateur Team Championships. Last August, he also became the first Moroccan player to reach the quarter-finals of the U.S. Amateur Championship.

As a member of the Road to the Tour programme, Adam Bresnu’s journey reflects the strategy implemented by the RMGF to identify, develop and support Moroccan talent on the path towards the highest levels of international golf. His exemption into the 2027 Charles Schwab Challenge represents another step forward in this ambition, which is to develop Moroccan champions capable of reaching the highest level of world golf.
