The 19th edition of the Golf Throne Cup: Three competitions for a shared passion

Chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Golf “FRMG” and the Association du Trophée Hassan II “ATH” are organizing the 19th edition of the Coupe du Trône de Golf to be held from July 22 to 27, 2024 at the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam.

The 19th edition this year celebrates golf for all generations. For this special edition, juniors and seniors will also take part in the competition, bringing a more inclusive and intergenerational dimension. Over 300 players from 18 clubs across the Kingdom will be present at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam during this period, further underlining the importance and appeal of this event.

The Coupe du Trône will take place on all three courses at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam.

The main competition, the Coupe du Trône “Classic”, will be held on the Parcours Rouge. It will bring together the elite of Moroccan golf, with teams of ten players and their captain. The tournament attracts players ranked in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), including the 2022 African and Arab champions.

The “Seniors” Throne Cup will be played on the Blue Course, with teams of ten players and a captain. These sportsmen and women will contribute their experience, expertise and know-how. Their participation helps to strengthen links between generations and to pass on the values of golf to younger players.

In 2023, on the initiative of His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, the FRMG and the ATH introduced a competition dedicated to young talent for the first time: the “Juniors at the Throne Cup”. This first edition brought together six of Morocco’s most dynamic golf schools.

The 2nd edition of the Coupe du Trône “Juniors” will therefore be played on the Parcours Vert, with teams of six players aged 9 to 14 and a captain. This initiative perpetuates the FRMG’s commitment to future generations of golfers, offering youngsters the opportunity to experience this competition while playing alongside their elders.

The Throne Cup’s travelling tradition, which has seen 15 different clubs host the event over the years, confirms the lasting impact of this competition.

Year after year, the Coupe du Trône confirms its growing momentum as a must-attend event for golf and the national sport.

The FRMG is delighted with the enthusiasm and commitment of the participating clubs. The 19th edition promises to be a high point for Moroccan golf, bringing together athletes of all ages and backgrounds around the values of fair play, fraternity and team spirit.
