Morocco put in an outstanding performance at the Junior and Ladies – Pan Arab Golf Championship 2024, held at The Residence Golf Course Gammarth in Tunisia. With a total of 10 medals, including 4 golds, Moroccan performances were outstanding in both the junior and ladies categories.
In the Ladies category, Sofia Chérif Essakali dominated the individual competition, taking first place with a score of -11. This individual success was underpinned by a brilliant team performance, with the Moroccan team winning with a score of 421 strokes to take the team gold medal.
In the U16 Girls category, the Moroccan team showed great cohesion, winning a silver medal with a total of 432 shots. Kenza Mahfoud Filali and Sawssane Melhli distinguished themselves by finishing 4th and 5th respectively in the individual category. In the U13 Girls’ category, Salma El Hali confirmed the new generation of players with a silver medal, underlining the depth of the Moroccan youth scene.
On the men’s side, Moroccan golfers were not to be outdone. Youssef El Hali shone in the U18 category, taking gold with a score of -5, closely followed by Yassine Benchrif (3rd) and Amine El Omari (4th). This individual domination was crowned by the victory of the Moroccan U18 team, which took gold with a total of 430 shots.
In the U16 category, the national team took bronze with 454 shots. Finally, in the U13 Boys category, Morocco took another team gold medal with a total of 305 shots, Ghali Bensefach coming 3rd individually.
