During the 16th edition of the All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT), held for the first time in Morocco at the Tazegzout Golf Course in Agadir, the national women’s team delivered an exceptional performance, marking a new milestone in the growth of Moroccan golf.
With the participation of 20 nations, including South Africa, which had won 14 of the previous 15 editions, this iconic African women’s golf competition saw Morocco shine. Through an excellent collective performance, the national team, composed of Sofia Cherif Essakali, Rim Imni, Nadia Sanz Ouezzani, and their captain Raja Hasnaoui, secured the title with a total score of -7, finishing ahead of South Africa by -5. Kenya completed the podium in third place with a score of +7.
Sofia Cherif Essakali, aged 15, was the driving force behind the Moroccan team throughout the tournament. With an individual score of -12, she dominated the competition from start to finish, winning the individual title and earning Morocco its second individual title in the history of this competition. Already crowned as Arab Champion, the RMGF elite player confirms her exceptional talent and establishes herself as one of the greatest prospects in African and international golf.
This achievement is the result of a structured and visionary effort led by the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation under the guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid. Through innovative programs, the Federation has successfully developed the potential of young Moroccan talents and elevated national golf to new heights.
The Royal Moroccan Golf Federation extends its heartfelt congratulations to all participating nations for their sportsmanship and contribution to the success of this 16th edition of the All Africa Challenge Trophy. The Federation also expresses its gratitude to the R&A and the All Africa Challenge Trophy Association for their support and commitment to advancing women’s golf in Africa. By hosting this competition, Morocco once again demonstrates its dedication to promoting women’s golf and celebrating sporting excellence across the African continent.
