After a week of intense competition, Morocco wins the World School Golf Championship team title and 3 individual titles during this inaugural event, which took place from July 15 to 20, 2025 at the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam in Rabat.
Under the effective presidency of His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation and the Hassan II Trophy Association co-organized with the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, and the Royal Moroccan School Sports Federation this first edition of the “ISF World School Golf Championship (WSGC)” in partnership with the International School Sport Federation (ISF), marking golf’s entry into the ISF World School Championships family, bringing together 64 young athletes representing 16 nations and regions from four continents.
The Moroccan national team composed of Sofia Cherif Essakali, Saad Ahalouch, Mohamed Baouhamou and Salma El Hali accompanied by national coaches Ahmed Réda Rhazali and Younes El Hassani, won the team event on the Blue course of Royal Golf Dar Es Salam, signing a -10 over 72 holes and defeating Thailand 2nd (+1) and Chinese Taipei 3rd with (+8).
This collective triumph is based on the achievements of our representatives, three of whom were crowned champions in their category:
- Sofia Cherif Essakali, U18 girls champion with a total score of -5,
- Hicham Rachidi, U18 boys winner with a total score of -4,
- Mohammed Baouhamou, U15 boys laureate signing a total of -5.
The gold medal in the U15 girls category was won by Shuang Wu (Chinese Taipei) who finished with a score of -11.
Beyond sport, this first edition embodied the universal values of sport as a vehicle for bringing cultures together. The cultural program, structured around the ISF Academy, created exceptional moments.
The day dedicated to discovering Rabat allowed the delegations to immerse themselves in Morocco’s historical and cultural heritage. The Nations Night was a highlight where each delegation presented its culture and traditions through original performances, fostering intercultural exchanges among all participants.
Maître Zine, Vice-President of the RMGF, declared: “Seeing Morocco initiate and host an international school golf competition of this magnitude responds to the vision of His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid regarding golf development, particularly among the youngest. The feedback from participating delegations is very positive, and we are proud to have offered young golfers an experience that was simultaneously sporting, cultural and educational.”
The enthusiastic testimonials from the 16 delegations confirm the positive impact of this week. The bonds forged between these young ambassadors of school golf extend far beyond the competition framework.
“The success of this first edition in Morocco validates our common commitment with the RMGF and all national partners. It also marks a structuring step in golf’s integration within the global school sports movement. The WSGC is now a reality, and we look forward to its return to Morocco in 2026, then again in 2028,” affirmed Mr. Tanasković, ISF President during the closing ceremony.
The appointment is already set for 2026, where Morocco will again host this competition and continue to write this beautiful story of world school golf.
