Under the Effective Presidency of His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation (RMGF) and the Hassan II Golf Trophy Association, in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, and the Royal Moroccan Federation of School Sports (RMFSS), are proud to announce the inaugural edition of the ISF World School Golf Championship (WSGC). This global youth event will take place from July 14 to 21, 2025, at the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam in Rabat, in partnership with the International School Sport Federation (ISF).
The WSGC is overseen by the Local Organizing Committee chaired by the RMGF and includes the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports and the RMFSS. As President of the Organizing Committee, Mr. Ali Bensouda, Treasurer General of the RMGF, stated: “Hosting this inaugural edition in Morocco is both an honor and a responsibility that we proudly share with all our partners. This achievement reflects the vision of His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, who has always placed youth at the heart of the national golf development strategy.
It embodies our ambition to position golf as a tool for education, transmission, and excellence. We are proud to see our collective efforts come to life through an event designed to endure and to place school sport at the core of an international dynamic.”
The WSGC is a new global golf competition exclusively for student-athletes from school systems around the world. Young players from Europe, Africa, Asia, the Americas, and the Middle East, representing 17 countries and regions, will participate in this competition officially included in the ISF calendar. Mr. Željko Tanasković, President of the ISF, emphasized: “The organisation of the first-ever ISF World School Golf Championship in the Kingdom of Morocco marks a historic milestone for the international school sport movement. It represents the official inclusion of golf in the ISF programme and clearly reflects our commitment to diversifying sporting opportunities for young student-athletes worldwide. We are proud to see Morocco lead this historic initiative and host the WSGC for its first three editions. This partnership reflects our shared vision of promoting excellence, inclusion, and global unity through school sport.”
Beyond the educational focus, the WSGC also serves as a gateway to elite competition, with players eligible to earn points in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR). The tournament is officially supported and endorsed by the International Golf Federation (IGF). Mr. Antony Scanlon, Executive Director of the IGF, stated: “We are delighted to see Morocco take a leading role in promoting golf among youth. The RMGF has brought together the right partners to ensure the success of this ambitious initiative, which perfectly aligns with the values of the IGF: international development, sportsmanship, and friendship through golf. As Morocco also prepares to host the 2027 World Amateur Team Championships, it is clear the country is positioning itself as a global leader in golf development.”
The WSGC will be played on the Blue Course of the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam in a 72-hole stroke play format (18 holes per day), preceded by two official practice rounds and a dedicated Education & Culture Day. The championship features five competitions:
Four individual events (U18 and U15, boys and girls), one team event (four players per delegation, with the best three scores counted daily). Winners in each category will be crowned ISF Golf Champions for one year and awarded official medals. The top team will earn the title of ISF World School Golf Champion.
In parallel, all delegations will participate in a cultural and educational programme including an opening and closing ceremony, a Rabat Discovery Day, the ISF Academy (featuring sessions on sports ethics, health, and diplomacy through sport), as well as the traditional Nations Ceremony.
The WSGC will also be held in Morocco in 2026 and 2028, reinforcing the Kingdom’s long-term commitment to youth development and international school sport, as part of the ISF World School Championships series.
